Magnum Nutraceuticals is a well-respected Canadian supplement company who has produced other products that we’ve reviewed in addition to the new Limitless pre workout.
Other Magnum Supplements that we liked include:
Together, these products establish Magnum Nutraceuticals as a well-rounded brand. So it’s no surprise that they’ve upped their game to a large-formula pre workout like Limitless as opposed to their pill-based pre workout “Rocket Science”. Comparing the two, we prefer Limitless all day simply based on the pre workout pill vs powder form debate.
And if you are wondering – yes, this is a pretty good pre workout!
Magnum’s Limitless Pre Workout – The Formula
Unfortunately, this product does utilize proprietary blends. This makes an exact ingredient breakdown hard, but we did have a great experience reviewing this supplement so we will do our best.
IsoPower Complex [7 g]
Creatine Isolate – Creatine pyruvate – Creatine Phosphate: Limitless utilizes a 3 creatine blend inside of their IsoPower Complex which also includes Beta-alanine and whey protein isolate (all together totaling 7 grams).
The forms of creatine supplements that they choose are very non-traditional. Isolate, Pyruvate and Phosphate forms are some of the least tested and least used forms of creatine in comparison to the creatine giants – monohydrate, HCL, etc.
It would be our best guess that Magnum includes roughly 2-4 grams of this creatine blend in their limitless pre workout.
Carnosyn Beta Alanine: The BWSB team did not experience any tingles while reviewing limitless, and can safely assume that there are less than 2 grams of beta-alanine in this pre workout.
Whey Protein Isolate: It is unclear by WPI is included in limitless. Our best guess is that it is here to enhance taste and texture of the product.
L-Citrulline [5 g]
Magnum’s Limitless contains a hefty 5 gram dosage of straight L-Citrulline per serving! This is a massive dose, considering that most popular pre workouts contain up to 6 grams of L-Citrulline Malate (1 Citrulline per 1 malic acid).
This means a pretty significant pump is possible with Magnum, though the extra malic acid energy will not be there. We found the pump to be slightly hit or miss while taking this product. However when it hits, it definitely hits hard!
Betaine Anhydrous [2.5 g]
Betaine Anhydrous is very effectively dosed in Limitless as well. The benefits of this ingredient include both pump/hydration as well as extra muscle growth. This extra muscle growth is believed to occur as a phenomena of the extra cell-swelling and hydration where your cells increase protein synthesis in order to take advantage of this extra space.
Happy Brain [1.42 g]
L-Tyrosine: L-tyrosine is a popular amino acid that can lead to elevated dopamine levels. Supplementing with L-Tyrosine can improve both mood and exercise output.
Caffeine Anhydrous: The staple-point of any stimulant pre workout, caffeine is an effective mood and performance optimizer. We would guess that Limitless contains roughly 225 mg of caffeine anhydrous per serving.
Bacopa: Bacopa Monnieri is the world’s oldest nootropic supplement. The active ingredient Bacosides are extracted from this ancient plant for their ability to improve cognition and memory through increased neural linkages and improved circulation of the brain. Maximum effect takes about a month of consistent supplementation.
Choline Bitartrate: Choline is another popular ingredient often used as a nootropic. Choline boosts both energy and mood, especially in those deficient in dietary choline (caused by poor diet or aggressive training).
Myristica Fragrans: More commonly known as nutmeg, this ingredient may improve mental focus. It’s a little difficult to tell.
GABA: GABA is often used to ‘calm the nerves’, and may be included to reduce caffeine jitters and/or promote growth hormone.
Beet Root Extract [500 mg]:
Beet Root is often used in pre workout supplements to promote a good pump. However, this product already contains an ample dosage of L-Citrulline, and only 500 mg of Beet Root is on the weak side. Perhaps this is for flavoring purposes.
Pine Bark Extract [100 mg]
Pine Bark Extract is most notably known for its high anti-oxidant content, particularly that of Pycnogenol.
Pycnogenol is considered an oligomeric proanthocyanidin compound. Basically, oligomeric proanthocyanidin compounds are characterized as anti-oxidant dyes that make certain fruits deeply colored. These anti-oxidant compounds are extremely powerful at reducing free-radicals and counteracting damage.
Grape seed and Pine Bark are the densest sources of Pycnogenol.
Chromium 454 [100 mcg]
Chromium 454 is a special form of Chromium which is said to have greater absorption and bioavailability in comparison to its standard forms.
Magnum Limitless Review
So yes, the ingredient profile is pretty stacked totaling about 16 grams of active ingredients. That’s nearly in range of Transparent Labs BULK and Jym Stoppani’s Pre-Jym!
But how exactly does this pre workout perform in the gym?
While reviewing Limitless, we found that the pump and creatine strength was very strong with this pre workout. The strength from the creatine complex also seemed to increase as we took it multiple days in a row, as you’d expect.
Pump wise, it’s primarily a muscle engorged feeling, and less of a veiny feeling. This is most likely due to the creatine and betaine channeling hydration into the muscle cells.
Focus wise, Limitless is pretty good as well. Compared to the ‘norm’, it’s great. However it’s not quite up there with some of the cleaner, crisper energy pre workout supplements.
Despite this, we still consider Limitless by Magnum to be a pretty solid pre workout, and if you are a magnum loyalist, then you will not be disappointed whatsoever.
